Environmental management system
The result of a voluntary choice, the certification ensures the true commitment of the company in monitoring the environmental impact of its processes, products, and services, thus establishing concrete objectives and action plans that are clear, measurable, monitored, communicated, and equipped with assigned resources with a view to continuous improvement.
Attention to natural resources
A major push for innovation and attention to mandatory and optional environmental regulations have made the company increasingly aware of the need to use natural solutions, among which water plays a significant role. The company pays close attention to the impact generated by its use along the entire value chain, from production to distribution, though to the end customer. Whenever possible, products are made and distributed in a concentrated form. This ensures not only water savings but also a reduced impact in the packaging area (less use of plastic for bottles and bags), and a reduction in volumes and costs for logistics and distribution. As for products, the company is driven by a desire to integrate natural ingredients in product design, responding positively to a new and growing market awareness that rewards the use of substances with reduced impact on the environment and health. If this is already a reality for Beauty&Health lines, the Biochemical division has recently been integrated with Vebi Bio, a line of Home&Garden products made from natural ingredients materials. The next goal is to be able to expand the range to professional products to allow the company to take an important step in this market segment.
Energy efficiency
Vebi Istituto Biochimico invests heavily in energy efficiency, which is considered strategic and challenging. Constant actions are taken to reduce energy waste, e.g. through constant improvement activities as regards heating systems. The company has a PV system built with European funding, to make production processes energy efficient. In addition, the electricity used comes entirely from renewable sources, with a network covered by Guarantee of Origin certificates.
A strategic approach to waste
With a view to Circular Economy and to better respond to the demands of its Quality, Environment and Safety System, Vebi Istituto Biochimico is committed to an increasingly careful management of the waste produced as part of its production cycle, with different disposal methods depending on waste risk and recoverability. Through proper waste sorting and classification, the company aims to increase the amount of products sent for recovery (energy recovery and recycling), with visible results starting this year.
